Greetings to all PAC members and supporters,

Pemberton Arts Council’s (PAC) tenth anniversary year has come to an end and we   look forward to celebrating another decade of growth in art and culture in our vibrant community.

This has been a memorable year.  It started with the fanfare of a birthday party and an evening of entertainment to celebrate PAC’s achievements in the past ten years. Revelers enjoyed a slice of birthday cake decorated with the “Birthday Owl” by Vanessa Stark.  The “Owl” has been a feature at all of our events in 2016. It’s now time to say goodbye and look forward to 2017 and beyond.

There were many changes in 2016 such as a new, more interactive website developed by Kiran Pal Pross our part-time employee. Early in the year we received a grant from the VOP, matched by the SLRD, to hire Kiran to assist the Board with recruitment and marketing. This grant extends over the next two years and we are currently recruiting for an individual to assist the Board to grow our organization and offer a rich diversity of programs and events. We thank Kiran for her great work and wish her all the best for her future career.

I would like to thank the eight board directors who worked with me this year to provide new events and a fall artist’s workshop series. We also worked to strengthen the governance and organization of the Council. In November we held a Strategic planning workshop to set the direction for PAC for the next five years. You can view the 2017 strategic plan and read about our past achievements and what is planned for 2017 by going to Orientation manual on the PAC website.

Thank you to the Board directors for your support during the past year and your commitment to growing the opportunities for artists of all genres to display their work and the public to appreciate their creativity.

Three of our members are stepping down for 2017 so we a seeking new members, with the time skills and love of art and culture to join the 2017 team. Please consider putting your name forward for selection at the AGM to be held on February 13th. You can apply online at you will find more about the role in the PAC Orientation Manual.

The new PAC membership year begins on January 1st 2017. Current members and new members (artists, individuals and group supporters) are encouraged to register online Join or mail in your registration to . Membership brings many benefits and opportunities to both professional and developing artists. For individual (single or group) art and culture lovers there are benefits and opportunities to support the growth of art and culture in your own community.  Those wishing to volunteer to help on committees or with events we welcome you to join our dynamic team by enrolling here Volunteer.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a joyful holiday season and invite you to join PAC in 2017 and be part of enriching our community through the celebration of Art and Culture.

Our inaugural Art and Garden Festival on Saturday, July 30 and Sunday, July 31, was a success!  41 participants attended, with a number from Whistler and other areas. Five gardens, art studios and farm venues were toured in Pemberton on Saturday and four in Birken on Sunday.  [PHOTOS BY CHRISTINE TIMM]

The venues were beautiful and the program offered diverse experiences. A fashion show of items from One Earth Collection was a big hit. PACC has achieved our goal of raising awareness of the wealth of talented local artists we have and that PACC is working hard to offer experiences for our community to enjoy and appreciate the rich local art and culture. We thank our volunteer event organizers, Anne Crowley, Judy Bourhis and Gretchen Frith, and our sponsors, Rona and Pemberton Nurseries, who donated $400 to produce the event passports; and Pemberton Valley Supermarket, who sponsored lunch items.
