Hiroko TakayaHiroko is a mother of two young boys, is a passionate gardener, herbalist and basket maker. She first came to Mount Currie in 1998 and knew that she wanted to stay. She has made her life here, living with the wonder of nature which has inspired her creativity. Hiroko was inspired by this and other ancient basket arts. She has taught herself to make these baskets through books and lots of trial and error. Also she learned how to make cedar root basket from an elder master basket maker in Mt. Currie.She enjoys roaming the wilds with her family gathering whatever nature offers and turning the fallen and uproots to works of art.
