Celebrating Community Murals
Pemberton Valley Supermarket Mural - Documentary
Behind the Mural: A Community Story
The Pemberton Arts Council is excited to share the story behind the new mural at the Pemberton Valley Supermarket, beautifully captured in the documentary above by Undeleted Productions. The film highlights the collaboration, creativity, and community spirit that brought this artwork to life.
A Vision Rooted in Place
Earlier this year, PAC launched a call for artists to create a mural celebrating the natural and cultural identity of the Pemberton Valley. With over 30 submissions, three artists were shortlisted and supported to refine their concepts. PAC also consulted with the Líl̓wat Nation to ensure the final artwork honoured the land, its stories, and the region’s ecological significance.
Meet the Artist: Natasha Plumridge
In June 2025, Pemberton-based artist Natasha Plumridge (@artbynatashalouise) was selected to create the final mural. Her vibrant design highlights the valley’s flowing waters, alpine scenery, wildlife, and agricultural heritage.
“This mural celebrates Pemberton’s agricultural heritage and natural beauty,” says Natasha. “It’s a
tribute to the harmony between the land, its people, and the Líl̓wat Nation’s traditions, featuring
forests, hay fields, wildlife, and native flora.”
Painting began in early September, transforming the supermarket’s west wall into a bright, summery landmark for all to enjoy.
Made Possible Through Partnership
The mural was funded by the Pemberton Valley Supermarket with additional support through a sponsorship from the Vancouver Biennale. The project was led by the Pemberton Arts Council, bringing together local partners committed to public art and community engagement.
A Project for Everyone
This mural is part of PAC’s Outside Voices Mural Project, an ongoing initiative that supports local artists and brings vibrant public art to Pemberton.
Thank you for watching the documentary and celebrating this new addition to our community.
Youth Mural Camp 2025
On July 18, the Pemberton Arts Council unveiled the third annual Youth Mural Camp mural at the Pemberton Community Centre. Over four days, nine local youth collaborated with Squamish-based muralist Alex Fowkes to create a vibrant new public artwork that wraps around last year’s mural, continuing the visual story of youth expression in Pemberton.
The project, supported by the Village of Pemberton and the BC Arts Council, highlights PAC’s commitment to accessible and inclusive arts programming. Two Indigenous youth bursaries were awarded this year to support participation.
Thank you to our sponsors: SLRD, Speĺkúmtn Community Forest, Vancouver Biennale, Pemberton Valley Supermarket, and the Rotary Club of Pemberton.

We’ve got some exciting news to share!
We were truly impressed by the number of applicants (over 30!) and by the incredible level of talent showcased. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who applied. We hope to have more mural opportunities in the future!
Community Mosaic Mural
🎨 Pemberton & surrounding communities: let’s create a mural together!
We’re so excited to announce a community mosaic mural project, and YOU get to be part of it! This is a chance for everyone in the community to contribute to a giant artwork that will brighten our town for years to come.
Here’s how it works:
We’ll start with one big image, it could be a tree, a bird, a heart, or something else that represents our community.
The big image will be divided into a lot of small tiles, each one a mini canvas.
Each tile will come with a simple guide showing which colours to use, so anyone can participate.
You paint your tile, and when all the tiles are assembled, they’ll create one beautiful, large mural for everyone to enjoy!
We need your input:
What should the big image be? Since this is a community mural, we want YOU to decide! Comment below or vote in our poll by September 10: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HRDWXTP
Painting together:
Once the image is selected, we’ll host several painting days this fall where anyone can come and paint a tile. Dates and locations will be shared soon.
Where the mural will go:
On the small shed between the skatepark and the parking lot, facing the Community Centre. This is a highly visible location for everyone to enjoy the final masterpiece.
A huge thank you to our amazing supporters for making this project possible:
