Pemberton Valley Supermarket Mural - Documentary

Behind the Mural: A Community Story

The Pemberton Arts Council is excited to share the story behind the new mural at the Pemberton Valley Supermarket, beautifully captured in the documentary above by Undeleted Productions. The film highlights the collaboration, creativity, and community spirit that brought this artwork to life.

A Vision Rooted in Place

Earlier this year, PAC launched a call for artists to create a mural celebrating the natural and cultural identity of the Pemberton Valley. With over 30 submissions, three artists were shortlisted and supported to refine their concepts. PAC also consulted with the Líl̓wat Nation to ensure the final artwork honoured the land, its stories, and the region’s ecological significance.

Meet the Artist: Natasha Plumridge

In June 2025, Pemberton-based artist Natasha Plumridge (@artbynatashalouise) was selected to create the final mural. Her vibrant design highlights the valley’s flowing waters, alpine scenery, wildlife, and agricultural heritage.

“This mural celebrates Pemberton’s agricultural heritage and natural beauty,” says Natasha.  “It’s a
tribute to the harmony between the land, its people, and the Líl̓wat Nation’s traditions, featuring
forests, hay fields, wildlife, and native flora.”

Painting began in early September, transforming the supermarket’s west wall into a bright, summery landmark for all to enjoy.

Made Possible Through Partnership

The mural was funded by the Pemberton Valley Supermarket with additional support through a sponsorship from the Vancouver Biennale. The project was led by the Pemberton Arts Council, bringing together local partners committed to public art and community engagement.

A Project for Everyone

This mural is part of PAC’s Outside Voices Mural Project, an ongoing initiative that supports local artists and brings vibrant public art to Pemberton.

Thank you for watching the documentary and celebrating this new addition to our community.
