Arts Whistler
In collaboration with Whistler Rainbow Connection, Arts Whistler invites local artists to contribute to Out/side – an art show that celebrates the diverse sexual orientations and gender identities of the Sea to Sky’s 2SLGBTQIA+ community, and anyone who has ever questioned where they belong. Particularly in a region defined by sport, recreation, and constant motion.
This exhibit explores 2SLGBTQlA+ identified people’s sense of belonging in the broader community, their sense of safety and personal expression. Through a range of perspectives and practices, queer artists bring their “out” side into public view and reflect on what it means to be visible in this community. The works consider spaces that feel open and welcoming, closed or exclusive, and the in-between moments that require careful navigation.
Out/side expands the conversation around visibility and belonging; it is an ongoing act of claiming space and inviting others into it, asking everyone, queer or not, to consider the unique joys and vulnerabilities of living a life Out/side.
Artwork will be prioritized from queer-identifying artists. A select number of artworks from allies will be accepted if space allows.
Call for artists open until April 13, 2026. Learn more and apply today at: https://artswhistler.com/calls-for-entry/
